I just got the 8320, is there any way to disable having to enter a password to unlock your keyboard? Thanks.

Is it from your company on a BES server? If so then no.





If it is yours then you can go to Options > Security Options > General Settings and disable password.

Got the blackberry online. I am currently getting it unlocked. When I go into Security options> general settings; the only thing it says is Password: Enabled, with a little red lock next to it, and it wont let me hit disable, the only things I am allowed to do are Change password, Wipe handheld, Verify security software, and save.

It sounds as if the blackberry was previously on a BES and it is locked out from an administrator. I'm not positive on how to help you out, but I would imagine that a handheld wipe would eliminate those settings, but be sure to backup the device before you take any steps that are that drastic. Hope you find a solution!

Actually, a wipe will not remove the IT Policy that is on the device. But this will:

I apologize for the bad advice, I wasn't positive on what to do but I figured that is something to always keep in the back of your mind. Hope that works out for you.

I would think go with what juwaack said, because he would know much more than I. I would guess following the IT policy steps, being that that is an IT related issue. That is the only problem I've ever had with purchasing devices online, they can be tough to get to function for your own purposes. Best of luck.

i used jl cmder and it wiped the it policy so i didnt have to go through all of the other steps. thanks for all the help guys!!!

You will still need to remove the IT Policy. Jl_Cmdr will not remove it. See Juwaack's post above.

I believe it did remove the IT policy.. I no longer have the red lock next to disabling a password under security options. I was able to disable the password.. And it removed the firewall.. Isnt that removing the IT policy, or am I missing something? Sorry Im new to the 8320.

I did this: "Note: (Added 05/03/2008) If your device has OS 4.3 or higher you can use JL_Cmder's "resettofactory" command to remove ALL IT policy, Firewall restrictions and Application Permission settings. Simply backup the device using Desktop Manager, close Desktop Manager, then run JL_Cmder and execute the "resettofactory" command. The device will wipe, then reboot leaving the OS, 3rd party apps but no data AND, best of all, NO IT policy whatsoever. When you're done, simply restore your backup and you're good to go with no policy or locked firewall."

I would think that you're all set, the 8320 is a good device and I think that you'll enjoy it.

My bad. I had scrolled down and no longer saw the thread title. I thought you had the original Peal (sans 4.3). Love that new functionality!! Glad you got it working.

May have just had a keyboard password and was never on BES with an IT policy.

He was not able to disable the password on the Security Options screen, so it did have a policy.
