Mine does not do that....

How long is 'for a while' when you're using it? 20 minutes....2 hours?

I can feel heat through the case on mine, but I wouldn't call it excessive, it's just warm.

I have not really noticed, but probably because of the case I use. But here would be my rule of thumb from other experiences. If it is warm but you can keep your hand or fingers in contact with the device surface, if it is not warm all the time, and if there is a plausible explanation for the heat, then I would not be concerned. A plausible explanation could be heavy demand on processing power or battery because of what you are doing, charging the battery, and that sort of thing. If it is too hot to touch, or warm to the touch for no reason, then something is up.
