Keep getting Error 1406, "could not write to value..." when trying to install 4.0(any version) handheld software. Any thoughts? Am only able to install 3.8

Thanks. The InstallShield Error 1406 was the issue. My admin rights were fine as I am the admin! Thanks again.

I have the same problem and I went through the steps described in both articles and ran into a roadblock because I don't have administrative rights. This is my personal laptop so it seems I should have rights! Anyway, I called Verizon and went through the same process and reached the same roadblock so they told me to contact Compaq. Went through the same deal with them and their solution was to copy the files from my cd to my desktop and install from there. I wasn't exactly shocked when that didn't work!!!

That's where I'm at now, anyone have any ideas? The software was working for several months, then my intellisync icon disappeared which started this whole process. I'm running windows xp.
