Default No BB Maps on Storm

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys,

I just bought my new BB Storm from Vodafone in India and am loving it. I have been using it for the past 2 days and it is simply great. The only problem is that my phone doesn't seem to have the BB Maps application on it. I have checked everywhere but it does not seem to be there.

I even tried connecting it to desktop manager which said it was installed, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but to no luck. Still no BB Maps icon showed up even though it is there on the Applications folder. Why not? Has Vodafone disabled it or something? How do I get it back on? I tried to check the service books and it was not there either. So I had the service books resent but still to no avail. I got my BB unlocked and am using Airtel service in India.

Thanks!

Do you not see the Icon with the compass on it that says Maps?

You can also use an application like Google Maps.

Some carriers which do not offer the Storm will not have the service book to push to your device to enable BBMaps on the Storm.

I know and that's the most likely conclusion. But will that just make the maps icon disappear? How strange? Also, I wanted to know whether I can get the service books of some other carrier and put it on my phone. Would that help? Thanks.

Not sure if this is your problem but you can try pushing the menu button on the main screen and see if you have it hidden. If the is a button that says "SHOW ALL" click that and see if bbmaps shows up. If it does highlight it, click the menu button, and uncheck "HIDE".

Go with Google Maps. It's better, anyway.
