Default OS: 8900 4.6.1.185/4.6.1.114 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

The link below to the .114 version of this OS has been UPDATED to the current release from T-Mobile US.

Software For BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8900 smartphone
From T-Mobile US; this will load on any carrier's 8900 device.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.1.185 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.6.1.185
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.6.1.114
* Software Platform: 4.2.0.76
* File name: T-Mobile_BlackBerry_Curve_8900_v4.6.1.114. exe
* File size: 118.17MB

Download OS here: DeviceDownloads

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 8900:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

For the previous OS for this device, click here:

Thanks Bolin.

It would be nice if they gave a list of all of the changes for each new release.

Yep, but 8900 is 8900 in Spanish... so easy enough to find.

Are you saying that you're not going to test each new release and make a list for me? I thought that's what moderators did for fun.

in the good running .109 is the stand-by with no function.
now: the .114 is also a good running version with the stand-by.
no problems after 8 hours testings...

Does this new OS increase the overall volume of the 8900? Reason I ask is with previous OS versions even when my ringtones and message alerts were at max volume it would sound quite low compared to the Bold and the 83xx series Curve. With the 8900 there are times where I am in a noisy environment and I won't hear my BlackBerry ring.

updated from.94 last night, on a Rogers phone
no major problems so far. I updated as I was having poor battery life. It would drop 5% every 4hrs(25-35%/day) just doing Nothing. No wifi, no Bluetooth, no Gps, screen set to 10 and no auto dim. Basically it would last only 2 days max if I used it for 10 min phone and say 5. Emails

Since the upgrade, and it has only been 9hrs since, battery has not dropped even 1%! When before it should at least drop 10% minimum

I hope the OS has fixed battery drain

Guys - any suggestions for me? I have my new 8900....downloaded and installed the .114 update - and no matter what, the DM 4.7 doesn't "see it" and tells me there is no new OS updates for my device. I have rebooted my machine and my 8900 with no luck. What am I missing here? I have updated my other devices (Bold) without an issue on this same machine at least 6 other times.

Thanks!

EDIT: OK - never mind, I forgot that I can just run "Loader" and it appeared to work. In the final stages now. Sorry for this silly post....DAMN that DM 4.7 crap...!

Default Enterprise & Upgrade??

Hi,

just a quick question... really would like to update to the latest Firmware on my new 8900. I´m not sure what will happen as my device as it is connected to the Enterprise Server.

Do I need to ask my IT support again to supply me with a reactivating password? or will the Enterprise functionalty be kept after upgrade?

Cheers

my desktop manager 4.7 would not see the update
I had to use the loader.exe found In the same directory as the vendor.XML file that needs to be deleted

Then it installed no problem

Yeah the same thing happened to me when I upgraded to .101. This time it just said that the one I was trying to upgrade was older? So I just did it using loader.exe as well again. Havn't seen an improvement in battery life. I've used up over 60% of my battery life but then again i've been on MSN and wifi/streaming BT music all day and a talk time of about an hour...so I guess thats a good thing? Still having 40% I mean.

Same here....

Since my Phone is also a T-mobile Version... I Thought that by removing the Vendor.XML I also would loose the T-Mobile Branding . This unfortunately didn´t happen.

How can I remove this?

Cheers
