Default Confused about how Blackberry plans work... Help?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Sidekick 3 and my contract is up soon, so I have the option of getting a new phone. My Sidekick is the first phone I've ever had a contract with. Before this, I only used prepaid, so I'm a little confused about the whole thing.

With my Sidekick, I have the 300 minutes/month plan ($30) and the unlimited texting/IMing/web browsing ($20), which brings my monthly bill to around $50. I'm interested in the Blackberry Curve, but I would like to have the same features I currently have with my Sidekick.

On T-Mobile's website, I'm a bit confused by the list of Blackberry plans and what they all do exactly. Is there a Blackberry plan where I can get $300 minutes a month, as well as the unlimited texting/IMing/web browsing for the same price?

I've seen some people say it's more expensive, and I've seen some people say it's the same price. If it's going to cost any more than $50/month, I just may have to stick with the Sidekick.

With TMobile & BlackBerry usually you need a voice plan (your 300 minutes) and a BB data plan (usually $19.99 and gives you internet/email/pin data.) However, neither of those plans include sms/text so you have to add some kind of sms/text plan to that. Sometimes they may have a bundled plan but I don't know...I don't keep up on every plan Tmobile is running.

Ah, so it would probably come to over $50?

I use my phone more for web, IMing, and texting more than I do for talking, so that's pretty much as must for me. Out of my 300 minutes, I barely use an hour's worth each month.

Yes, the BlackBerry Data plan usually adds $19.99 to whatever you were paying.

Figure on $50 plus the cost of a text message plan.

Basically, you'd replace the unlimited "texting/IMing/web browsing" with the $19 BB data add-on and an unlimited text messaging package. The voice minutes are irrelevant as you'd leave your voice plan as is.

You can get any voice plan you want for your blackberry that part doesn't matter. You would also need to get a blackberry data plan which runs $19.99 which will give you unlimited data which does not include text messaging. If you add the unlimited text messaging plan you would need to add and additional $14.99.
