You should ask the manager what he knows about growing and harvesting corn in Iowa. You're likely to get a response which is just as reliable as the info you've gotten about the Bold.

Sigh. Unfortunately it's starting to sound like AT&T's "It will be out by November" comment meant much later rather than sooner.

Really sucks.

I'm okay buying it from Canada (though AT&T would be cheaper) but it doesn't look like the bold is being released up there anytime soon.

If that's the case then the iPhone should NOT be then because the battery life on it with 3G is absolutely terrible.

Buy them in Germany. We have them already available and you don't need to buy any unlock codes. The devices come without any locks out of the box

Dumb question, then, How do we go about ordering from Germany, and what are the potential downfalls?

Is there a way to change the German QWERTZ keyboard to an American QWERTY keyboard (I know the button will still say "Z", but can you change the settings so that you press "Z" and it types the "Y" and vise-versa)?

No, that is not possible. You can easily get used to the different layout. I had to use multiple BBs with QWERTY keypad in the past and it was never an issue for me. It shouldn't be that different for someone who normaly uses a BB QWERTY keyboard to get used to a QWERTZ keyboard. There is no other difference on the keypad except these two switched letters.

You need to find a shop or someone who buys the device for you and sends over to the U.S..
From my point of view there are only to downfalls:
1. Z and Y keys are switched on the German keyboard layout
2. The repair of the device could become difficult if it breaks or needs repair.

Btw, how long is the warranty period on a BB if you buy it in the US?

One year parts and labor as far as I know.

Earlier this summer I was laughing when reps were telling me November/December. Looks like I'm eating my own words now..

When it gets here, it gets here. No sense in getting worked up or upset about it.
