Default Windows 7, BB desktop manager, won't install

Please Login to Remove!

I had vista home premium and did an inplace upgrade to Windows 7 home premium. Afterward I decided to delete desktop manager and do a clean install of it.

Well, whenever I download any version of DM, i get the zip file, it does all the normal stuff, language selection and then it starts to unzip, it deletes temp files, and it absolutely stops.

No error message no nothing. it looks like it could possibly have worked other than it only took 2 minutes and there's no trace of it in program files.

Any clues????

Just saw on another website that DM 5.0 has been updated with Service Pack 1 which seems to claim Windows 7 compatibility.

I'm using Win 7 Ultimate 64bit with DM 5 and had no problems with install or operation. I didn't have to use compatibility mode either.
Perhaps the file itself was corrupted during transmission?

DM 5.0 original works fine on mine, and others Windows 7 pc's.

There is no new Desktop Manager available at RIM's site, at this time.

Anyone else notice that the installation package is significantly larger than 5.0? File size: 133.076 MB vs 91.16 MB for non media manager version. 297.968 MB vs 225.085 MB for version with media manager. Pretty significant size difference.

I had no problems with 5.0 on Windows 7 since upgrading this weekend but will go ahead and install 5.01 anyway.

How embarassing. When I did the vista upgrade I needed to reinstall CA security/virus protection. Not sure if I set it, or it was a default, but it was set to dis-allow new program installs.

Everything is working

Other than Windows 7 locking up on a lot of PC's. The home version does not have the compatibility mode option the higher version have.

Windows 7 has not locked my computer up yet... and I don't expect it to.

I was able to install DM 4.7 under Windows 7 Home Premium without issue. I use it daily.

I'm running Windows 7. Upgraded this last weekend from Vista Ultimate 32-bit to 7 Ultimate 64-bit. No problems encountered either with DTM 5.0 or any other programs. Since I did a custom install, I did have to re-install all programs. I wonder if the people having problems did an upgrade install vs custom install.
