Smile New BB8330 User Here! Tips? Advice?

Please Login to Remove!

Good afternoon all!

I'm a new Blackberry Curve 8330 user and I'm wondering if anyone has any advice, tips, or suggestions for me. I will be needing to get my contacts, among other things, from my outlook or Palm Tungsten E2 into my Blackberry. Also, does anyone have any tips on downloading software from Handango? I purchased SplashShopper from them but when I went to download it directly from and into my Blackberry, I got a message saying that the "SplashShopperLib module" was not installed and that I needed that (I'm still waiting to hear back from the Handango folks unfortunatley).

Anyway, suggestions, tips, advice and such are most welcome!

1. Your contacts in Outlook will sync to the 8330 using BlackBerry Desktop Manager > Sync. You can export your Palm contacts to an xls file and import those to OUtlook as well.

2. work with Handango on that issue.

3. See my link below to Stinsonddog's tips and tricks, scroll down to the 8300 tips, print them out and study it, and learn all you need to know.

Tip #1: Whenever your BlackBerry acts funny, pull the battery out for 30 seconds. This solves so many little issues and restores normal function that RIM should put a sticker on every device sold saying this.

Tip #2: Get a media card so you can keep your pics/ringtones/music/whatever out of your internal memory. You need as much of that kept free as is possible. All applications have to be stored there, and you need 10-12 MB minimum free to allow the BlackBerry OS to run smoothly and correctly.

Thanks! Now, can you tell me how to tell my BB where to store what? I'd LIKE to store the actual applications directly on the BB, but keep all the other mess you mentioned on the media card (I ordered that yesterday).

You can store music, ringtones, pictures, videos and documents on the media card, but not apps (unless you get a 3rd party app for storing the install files on the card).

Once you have the media card inserted, go to your camera options and select the default location. The videos are stored on the media card, they can't be saved in device memory. Actually you can't take videos without a media card inserted. Media that you already have in device memory can be moved to the media card except for the preinstalled pictures, etc.

Be sure to check out the BlackBerryFAQ.

blue_and_gold, you have been using a lot of questionable language in your posts over the past few days. You might want to throttle it back a bit. This a a family friendly place. Thanks.
