My T-Mobile phone does, and has, worked fine for me for the seven years that I've been with T-Mobile (and Voicestream before them). It works in my house, at work and where I travel to - which does include places that Verizon doesn't...
Verizon is great. If you never leave North America. And want GPS.

I agree, I reviewed something I found about the number of towers different carriers have and ATT is double Tmobile and Tmobile is larger than any of the other carriers. The more towers the less dead spots, it also helps if the carrier that you are on has connections with other carriers allowing you to us have extended range and countries. I prefer Tmobile, I have been with this carrier since the Suncom days and been through many changes with them and so far they have remained much more of a do it yourself style that requires less phone calls to get something accomplished. The users that I support that use ATT all most always requires a call to get something changed.

if just the GSM portion was 850/900/1800/1900 it would be the biggest hit on earth. but greedy company.

Sorry for opening up an older topic. I have a couple of thoughts tho (being a verizon customer): If I were to be going overseas, let's say to Italy, it would probably be for one of two possible reasons, business or pleasure. If its business related THEY are going to be footing the bill so who the hell cares how much using an 8830 is, it isn't coming out of my pocket. If its a social vacation or get-a-way I'm pretty sure I'd be keeping my cell phone OFF - why the hell do I want to get personal calls during a once in a lifetime vacation to a beautiful foreign country?
I do see that the Storm comes with built-in SIM card now so if some of you are flying off to all parts of the globe spur of the moment, I guess you'll be okay, right?
Chris
P.S. I agree with the above posters who talk about cell signal quality - I live in Western Massachusetts and Verizon is head and shoulders the "coverage king" in this area. It is pretty much all over New England in my experience. So, for me that is a HUGE incentive. But don't think for a second that I don't have several other issues with Verizon because I do! haha

I'd settle for knowledge that it will" come to VZN.
We all know it is at least a year after a GSM version is produced that VZN will come out with it. In this case that would entail the development work currently underway at VZN.
That has yet to be discussed in an open forum.
Yes, I do want that to happen, but alas, it does not seem like it will happen. Maybe we'll start hearing rumors next summer on this subject?

Working on that.
As speculative as it is im just going to lay it out. A friend of mine is a manager (as most people who post rumors are) at verizon. I went in to buy the storm last week and I had told him how unhappy I was just handling the storm in the store.
I told him it was going to be a tossup between the storm and the bold and I was going to go with the bold because of the far superior OS build. He then clued me in that it was in fact coming to VZW on January 5th. He showed me the screen in store and beleive it or not it did say the 5th. I saw it with my own eyes. I'm working on a screenshot if I can get him to give me one (my current 7100i has no camera).
I have very good reason to beleive him other than the fact that I saw the computer with the in stock date. Before the bold was slated for release on ATT, numerous reports had the original release for May/June with Verizon slated for 2-3 months behind it (Aug/Sept). I beleive this 2-3 month exclusivity still stands as the Bold launched Oct, January just happens to fall 2-3 months later.
Go figure.

The 9000 can't launch on Verizon, it would have to be a different model and there has been ZERO rumors of a CDMA Bold.
I'm calling BS on this, especially on a Jan 5th date. There is no chance this is coming out in a little over a month and no one has even heard of it.

Blackberry Bold release dates, pricing leak out - Engadget Mobile
Numerous reports stating Verizon will receive the bold. It may be a variant to work on their network but I beleive the release schedule still stands, just backed up a few months to the actual release date (oct).
Also it seems as though members are reporting the Bold on vodaphone which is a Verizon company.

Also just found updated release information.
BlackBerry Bold Release Date and Pricing

Just because there is a Bold on vodafone doesn't mean there will be a Bold on Verizon. Vodafone is GSM. Verizon is CDMA.
I'm not saying there won't be a cdma Bold but the Vodafone Bold means nothing.

Agreed. I'm not saying there won't be a CDMA Bold, I'm saying it won't be the 9000 and it won't be on Jan 5th.
I can't remember there ever being a BB launch where we didn't know months in advance that it was coming.

From everything I've read, there will be no BOLD on Verizon. It will release the "Niagra" targeted for late Spring '09. Similar -- hi-res screen, but smaller form and a 3 mp camera. No wi-fi (VVVvvvverizon!!).
This is the most updated info I have. Do you all know something I don't??

Niagara - not Niagra. It is not a BlackBerry for male enhancement. It is Niagara.

9000 is just the master model number. Like 7100 or 8300, etc. Each carrier always has its own sub-model number. Verizon's Bold will probably be like a 9030 or something like that.
