So, is there a list anywhere that is known by users of this site that suggests the best third party app stores? I understand that with bb you don't need to buy from only the App World store, is that right? I've found the Crackberry site and it seems useful, but would like some further input. Thanks

I don't know of a consolidated list anywhere. And if I found one, I'd be suspecious, for a number of reasons, including whether the author has any financial interest in the listed sources, the timeliness of the information, and so forth. Also, the app developer is as much something you need to be informed about as much as the seller.
My advice, is google the app you are interested in and spend some quality research time before you decide and/or buy.
