Default I need help please!

Please Login to Remove!

First of all, I am a newbie and am a bit overwhelmed. So, please go easy on me.

I have a new bb curve from tmobile. Just a bit over a month old. Well, my dh spilled his drink and some soda ended up in the keyboard.

The track ball was really sticky and so was the menu key. So, genious me removed the key to "clean" it out.

But, now I cant put it back in. It stays but it is wobbly, and will come out with little force. :(

The track ball is also wobbly.

I am so mad at myself, I could cry. Why? Because I didnt purchase the extended warranty.

The phone doesnt seem to be damaged, and the keys seem intact. I dont know what the problem is. Maybe they need to be inserted at a certain angle? I dunno.

I need help.

Would trying to purchase a new ball and key solve my problem?

Please, help this newbie.

First, welcome to the BBForums.

The keyboard is all one piece, in a sheet, and normally only can be removed by unscrewing the case and removing the face of the device. You would find the keyboard all in one loose sheet.

At that point you could clean with some alcohol (a wipe or a qtip with rubbing alcohol will do). There are disassembly instructions and photos here.

If you need a replacement for the keyboard or the trackball, see HorizonWirelessOnline.com - Horizon Wireless, The World’s Cellular Repair Center ß. They are easily replaceable with new pieces, and not so very difficult.

Good luck.

Thanks for your reply!

Are there any instruction videos or pictures that you can link me to?

Is if fairly easy, I am terrified of making the issue worse than it already is.

Thanks Again!

Disassembling the Curve can be tricky. There is a seal on the front cover that sticks pretty good to the lcd display. I'm not always successful in removing that in one piece. When you order a keyboard from Horizon Wireless above, be sure and have him send you a new seal.

Once you have the front cover off, you'll want to remove the lcd display. It just snaps on the circuit board but also has some good "sticky" on the back of it. Use a credit card and slide it underneath the display to "unstick" it from the circuit board. Make sure you unplug the tape connector first. Once the display is off you can wash the keyboard contacts with alcohol and a toothbrush. Let it dry for a day or so. Then put it back together.

This might be a job for a repair tech. I've done it but it can be tricky. It also requires a Torx T6 screwdriver which most people don't have. Good luck.
