Default Google Maps and BB Tour

Please Login to Remove!

There seem to be some mixed reports on if the GPS works in Google Maps. I just picked up a Tour on Sprint today. The GPS seems to come up fine in BB Maps however doesn't come up in Google Maps. Is anyone else experiencing this too?

It is working fine for me, with two exceptions -

- The Zoom In/Out buttons and the locate button are leftovers for the Storm (I think)

- The map doesn't always recenter on GPS when you relaunch the application. I haven't finished checking this issue out.

Interesting that it works on a VZW 9630. I'll have to try to acquire another device to test.

I noticed the remnants from the Storm version of Google Maps also...

i find the same, those icons are on the screen but you can zoom in and out with a press of I or O and recenter with 0,for those who dont know. i find the lock onto the gps very quick.

GPS works fine with VZW. I asusme you are using V3.0.2 of Google Maps.
Note that BB Maps uses assisted GPS to acquire the initial lock. Google Maps uses the standalone GPS. It will generally take longer to acquire the lock. Make sure you have switched from 911 to Location On in your BB Settings for the GPS.

Only thing else I can suggest is call Sprint and check to see if what they have to say.

+1 for not getting GPS to work on the Sprint Tour. I also think it downloads a version of google maps that is supposed to be for a touch screen blackberry. I hope this gets resolved soon.

+1 no dice with google maps. I've tried removing and re-installing, dumping the entire handset, it refuses to use the GPS. Firing up berry maps and it's got a 10 bird lock in 10 seconds without issue.

I haven't tried Google Maps with GPS yet, but ion thing I used all the time is missing. From address book, there was a menu option to show address on Google Maps, then you could get directions. I'll really miss that because I used to to document mileage and travel time for work.

Anyone else noticed this?

It's still there on my Tour. Near the top of the menu. Go to the address you want, open it, hit the menu button - near the top is "Show on Google Maps"

GPS worked for me with Google Maps after I upgraded my Sprint Tour to .57. ONe complaint I have left is the font of the street names. I cannot read the tiny letters, even when I zoomed, the street names remain teeny tiny. With Blackberry Maps, I can adjust the font sizes and it looks great. Anybody know how to adjust font size on Google Maps?
