Problems or bugs?! The 8800 is PERFECT!

I think you need to look for the good in the 8800 and not the bad. The good is overwhelming compared to the bad.

My only complaint is if you do not use your 8800 for music, the 2gb memory card is useless. I love the 8800 and have got very used to the keyboard coming from the 8700. I wanted QWERTY and the 8800 provides it nicely. To me the 8800 has the best build quality I have seen except the old 75XX series.

For me the negative is everybody elses fingerprints on my clean 8800. As for the memory card, I use mine to store documents that I forward frequently.

Holy Cow -- I never knew that I could attach files from the compose menu. Thanks for the tip - this is a VERY helpful feature for me.

Default Issues

1. Speed dial does not work from messages screen.
2. Application compatibility for 8800 (not their fault, I know)
3. Multiple attachments for email. Only reason I mention this, our sales people want to stick their micro SD and sent out lo-res pictures. Who knows how long that would work before they broke it.
4. I want my wave theme back!

Many more new good features than lost old ones.

Thanks

I am a new BlackBerry user as well. I use a BB 8800 from Cingular. In general, it is the best smartphone device I have ever used. Especially in terms of Syncing up Contact, Calendar and E-mail with my Microsoft Exchange server based Outlook database.

The single major flaw I have identified is that BlackBerry devices are not able to correctly synchronize tasks items with Microsoft Outlook. This is a big problem for me.

You can read about this specific problem in detail at this thread:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-...d=1#post470972

Otherwise, I have to say I love the BlackBerry 8800. Everything else it does, it does it so well that I think I can temporarily live with the tasks not syncing correctly.

Recurring tasks do not work. The reminder only goes off for the first occurrence, but never again for subsequent occurrences. This is a confirmed issue with Blackberries, and I am very disappointed to find that this has a been a problem for years according to some online research. The BB Tech Support guy (tech support was great by the way - they CALLED ME 3 times in one day. I think that is great!) told me that he has no idea if/when this problem may be fixed.

If your main focus is phone and email, the BBs are great. But I find that it leaves a bit to be desired in other areas -- just a little. However, Tasks is a huge disappointment.

On a positive note though, one really superior ability, of my 8100 anyway, is Bluetooth headset range. I thought it was normal for Bluetooth calls to drop if you got 10 feet or so away from your phone. With the BB, I can leave it on the desk and roam around without dropping the call. Very nice! I bet the 8800 is the same.

That sounds promising since my last smartphone forgot it was a cell phone and wouldn’t work. Sorry, still venting.

I can't speak for the two 3d party apps you mention, but I use several others on my 8800 with any problems at all-

PocketDay
WebMessenger
ToDoMatrix
Telenav
InfoSpaceFindIt!
VR+
AskMeNow

My only real issue w/ Blackberry's is that Flash player is not implemented nor available to download which holds back many internet features.

Yea and you trust those geeks over our geeks?

Why don't you load Yahoo Messenger on your 8800 and give it a try out and see for yourself if it works?
