Note that, if you install the new FB and keep the defaults, the FB app will upload all your Contact data from your BB to Facebook. I checked Options as soon as the new FB was installed, saw that, and turned that option off immediately.

I'm also having a little bit of trouble with the contact integration. I think BB should make an app for FB so you could manage your contacts (and maybe settings) online as well.... It would kind of be like a "Social BIS" for the rest of us.

For the amount of time we waited between releases, the ability to look at profile and wall post photos would be nice. Also another tab for chat would have been cool. And finally at the very very least show us our freaking WALL.
None of those features need a larger screen. Hopefully they add some of this functionality to the next release.
With all of that said, I love this update. Having birthdays on my calendar is super cool as is the address book integration. I am assuming it doesn't trash your address book and not let you sync like the beta leak?

How can I delete that calendar called Facebook? I don't need that feature.

You can try deleting the service book Facebook[CICAL] under Options -> Adv Options -> Service Book. It might come back, though. Also turn it off via your Facebook Options.
To make sure it's not the default, go into Options -> Adv. Options -> Default Services.

Facebook icon - Options - uncheck calendar; I unchecked all three - calendar, contacts, and messages. I like facebook to stay inside the icon, not invade the rest of my blackberry.

Turned off the calendar.. that's something I will never use. I'm good with the messages and contact sync.. especially since I've been using the catch all "messages" icon alot now.

Ok, hold the phone (or BlackBerry, in this case). My device has never been attached to a BES so it's never had an IT Policy on it.
Since installing this new Facebook I have something listed in a field on my device that is usually reserved for an IT Policy name. I'm looking under Options -> Security Options -> General Settings -> Scroll down to Settings section.
I now see 'Facebook[facebook_service_key]'
What the heck...???

What do you mean by a web update thru blackberry.com? You mean an OTA OS upgrade?

those who aren't easy to please, 1.5 is better than 1.2, hell yes, period, it is a never ending thing comparing apps for one phone to another. You can sing about it until the cows come home.

I don't have that.. I did however turn off the calendar feature and delete the service so that might have done it.
The FaceBook[CICAL] has not come back yet.. it's been a few hours.

Yeah I'm kinda confused about this IT policy thing. I haven't seen it limit anything yet...but hmm. Not sure what you mean by update via the blackberry site.
For anyone else that has an issue with the calendar showing up in a today view it really is as simple as going to under options >default services and changing the calendar back to what you were using. It was driving me nuts for this whole day too, I just never thought of it.
But in any event I like the new app for the most part. I really like the ability to enlarge pictures within the application. The status commenting is cool...but I don't seem to get updates that someone else commented sent to my list.

uncaught exception application net_rim_bb_facebook(215) is not responding; process terminated
when updating status? Status in general seems extremely slow.....

All I'm saying is RIM needs to do better. Half a**ed updates aren't going to cut it in today's smart phone market.

Facebook 1.5 Update Coming Tonight - Issue Fixes
After much anticipation, Facebook 1.5 was officially released earlier this week which led to a whack load of blog comments and CrackBerry forum posts and lots of initial feedback from the user community. Reading through, it became apparent that a few little bugs were present. RIM must be paying attention, as we received some intel today letting us know that users should check later tonight for an updated release that addresses some issues:
* ISSUE: Default Calendar - Facebook calendar pre-empts existing device calendars. Issue resolved for new installations only, existing users are required to follow the manual process to reset their default device calendar.
o Manual Steps: options/advanced options/default services/reset calendar to the correct service
* ISSUE: Phone Number Requested when Manually Linking Contacts - A Facebook phone number request is automatically sent on a manual friend connection, users will be prompted if they want to request a phone number on a manual connection.
I'm not sure what time the updated version will go live... so if you Facebook addicts can manage the wait I'd probably just check in the morning
