Default Pearl 8120 - O2 to T-Mobile OS

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys! I just picked up an unlocked Pearl 8120 but it still has O2 themes and other branding in the OS. I want to wipe the device clean and install the T-Mobile software. I already tried deleting vendor.xml and using the apploader but that didn't seem to do anything except change the versions of some of the apps. The O2 stuff remains and I don't see anything from T-Mobile even though I downloaded the software from their website. Could someone point me in the right direction for basically making this a T-Mobile branded phone? I'm a fairly advanced user and can follow instructions as long as they're clear. Thanks in advance!

Can't change the branding. That is permanent. You can put any carrier software you want as long asit is for your specific device, i.e. 8120 OS but not 8100, 8110 or 8130.

I see. Thanks for the quick reply. So basically I'd only be able to install T-Mobile apps, if they exist. But the startup screens, themes, etc. will remain O2? I'm guessing that's hardcoded into the device?

You can change the theme if you find an 8120 specific theme.
The splash screen at start up can't be changed.
