8100 more geared for women...

I find the new Blackberry Pearl 8100 is really meant and geared toward for girls/women.
Nice finish - which will be scratched and banged up by guys eventually.
Nice camera feature - which has nice zoom feature
Nice MP3 feature - Love the XD memory slot feature. Great for storing any data and not just for video and pictures.
The roller in the front will take some time to get used to.
The BB menu button and back button are so small and dang close to the track wheel!
You need to have toothpicks for fingers or really long and narrow fingernails to navigate 'round the small keyboard.
Okay, nuff of the frustration with the miniature bashing.
All in all, the phone is nice, sexy, elegant and sexy. Yes, sexy. I am impressed. But as a guy with big hands...this phone is really for the ladies. Nuff said. Now where did my spare 8700r go to....

It may attract MORE women/girls, agreed.
...but generally speaking the Blackberry is a MAN'S device.
Logic: More men than women tend to be professional/business workers (as apposed to home-makers) THUS Women tend to need an always on email device less than men THEREFORE a majority of BlackBerry owners are men.

I'm a normal sized guy and I love it... I can't stand those big bulky QWERTY devices. I like smaller keys and haven't had a problem with it yet.

...and us guys don't care if our phones get beat-up as long as the phone keeps on working. I treat all of my Blackberry's very rough, THEY all look pretty beat-up.

The roller ball seems to feminze the phone........that little ball reminds me of a certain elusive body part unique to women. Flick the baked bean just right and you can get the phone to do anything.

Wtf cares. I'd like to think that the people that use blackberry aren't highschoolers and no one is gonna "tease" you for having a femme phone even though I think the phone can be geared toward both sexes.

I don't completely disagree with your logic; however, my wife is a busy professional and constant business traveler who does need an always-on email device, but it was a hard sell to get her to go with an 8700g a few months ago before the Pearl came out--and she may now switch to the Pearl. Her reasoning? The form factor of the Pearl works better with the clothes she has to wear as a businesswoman--it's just not as easy for an 8700 and its holster to work with a dress or woman's suit as it would be for a somewhat smaller device. We guys don't have a problem with hanging a BB off our belts, because when we're working, we almost always wear a belt. Her 8700 ends up being carried in-hand or hung off her purse strap, neither of which is really satisfactory. She thinks the Pearl could more easily just go in her purse or pocket, not to mention it just looks more feminine to her. OTOH, I love my 8700 and won't part with it until something better in the same form factor comes along (and it makes economic sense).

I should avoid discussions of this nature but, once again, I have fallen into a trap...
It's time for men to realize that gizmos are for everyone; technology has managed, in my humble opinion, to break down the walls separating men and women.
I remember someone once writing that the Treo was made for men (he had many interesting views -- non of which made sense).
Well, the Pearl is sure small enough to stuff it into my bra though....
But la, la, la.........

The Pearl does not use an "XD" chip.
The Pearl does NOT have a track wheel.
It's called a "trackball," not a "roller." What.. you think it is a miniature roll on deodorant ball? I'll concede it looks like one.
Have you seen how hens bang up their phones? Worse than guys sometimes.
Do you consider all small things "made for the ladies?" I guess I could understand Members with small members adopting that logic. |

I also like the explanation about holsters not working for women. I've always had the biggest gripe about this. It's not even that holsters don't work well with dresses, not many women's dress pants even HAVE pockets. o.O I so wish I could just wear a suit jacket or khaki pants sometimes and still look professional...but c'est la vie...=P |
