Angry Blackberry Pearl Accessories - Delayed, Delayed, Delayed

Please Login to Remove!

I just checked the Blackberry Pearl Accessories Shop and the nice leather case/sleeve has been delayed until Nov 2!!!!

First it was Sept 27, then Oct 6, and now Nov 2....why couldn't they get all needed accessories out when the phone was introduced.

Lots of other accessories have also been delayed. I bought this thing thinking I'd only have to wait about a week for the other cool add-on stuff...now it's turning into 6 weeks. Let's start a pool on when the accessories actually ship.

I completely agree... Someone on here drilled a bunch of little holes in theirs... and it looked pretty dang slick, I must say. I wish I had the time to tinker like that...

I was looking at other items on the blackberry accessory page and now the case has been delayed until Nov 17 <- LINK

What is the problem with getting these things built and delivered? Hasn't the 8100 product been in the works for over a year? Wouldn't RIM plan to have all accessories/toys for the 8100 available at the time of launch and not 2.5 months later?

Peeved, annoyed...Just seems I need to spend more money than planned on the Pearl. I originally bought a 2GB SD card that is now unusuable for the time being ($110), Then had to purchase an interim case ($20) to replace the case that was supposed to be ready on Oct 12. (another question - why wasn't this thing shipped with some sort of cheap case as all other bberies are?)

Frustrated from waiting and sinking money into RIM errors.

They have speaker hole at the top. It isn't on the back cause most people lay their device down on its back not on the lcd screen. So don't hold your breath for a different backplate with holes right where the speaker is as it doesn't make sense.

T-Mobile made the call on the case. The carriers specify to manufactures what to include with the phones.

I agree that it's pretty bad to release a phone with out the goodies to be bought, but every cell manufacture is guilty of that.

Your 2GB will work in your 8100 TODAY. Just upgrade to the Rogers firmware!

Well actually most people keep them in their pocket or a case. A friend of mine drilled the holes in his and said its a lot louder now. Im sure rim will come out with a a back plate with the holes, eventually but if they did it probably would not be for quite a while.

also for those looking for a case for the 8100, the t-mobile SDA case fits it perfectly and actually puts it to sleep while its in, which is odd because the SDA does not have that feature.

It's the magnets in the case that puts it to sleep, not a function of the MDA. The 8100 has a magnetic sensor and when it senses the magents in the cover of the case when you close it it goes to sleep.

I have about 3 different "medium" size horizontal cases that I've collected over the year, all generic, and each one of them puts the 8100 to sleep.

Yes - I saw one of your posts under another thread. I've been looking on the rogers and rim websites for that firmware upgrade but haven't been able to find it.

Can someone please direct me to a link.

Thanks

When does the basic holster arrive? Where can we buy it when it ships?

it does seem someone dropped the ball on this roll out. if it is RIM or T-Mobile or who ever, the cases/accessories/goodies should have been released closer to the release of the phone itself. or even at the same time - what a concept, give all my money up front! these further delays are crazy. were they all that distracted by the patent lawsuit?
