My friend has a new 8820. When she makes/receives calls, the other party cannot hear her properly. I suspect it is the microphone problem. Any suggestions on how to diagnose the real problem and how to fix it? Does upgrading to the latest phone os helps? Her os is 4.2.

Are you certain it is the friend's 8820 that is the problem? Have you heard it on your phone?

You could try a battery pull. Who knows. A hard reset fixes a lot of strange things. It might fix this. At least worth a try.

Is the 8820 still under warranty?

No more warranty as it is bought from overseas. I tried to talk to her using my phone too. Her voice sounded very soft and i have to up my volume to hear her properly.

Anyone knows where is the mic located in the phone? Could it be mis-aligned? Can i suggest that she opens up the phone cover to re-align the mic? Or is the mic a fixed hardware component with the phone motherboard (PCB)?
