Hi everyone!

I just got a Blackberry Pearl 8130 the other day =]

(With the 29.99 data plan with Verizon Wireless)

And I have no clue how to use the internet/browser!

When I click on 'Browser' it just shows a screen that looks like this:

Services
Email Accounts

Settings

Language
Service Books
Create User Name

Help

I've already set up my gmail account (because I'm already using Blackberry Messenger to talk with my friends - which is awesome!), and actually it's a little confusing because I swear my email was already set up when I got the phone...

Probably because:

This is actually my second pearl in 5 days!

I got a pearl on Friday, tested it out, and decided I hated it. So I took it back and found out I had insurance on my old phone (which was broken from having liquid splashed on it). But when I filed the claim, they said since the 'incident' occurred more than 60 days ago (I had just been living with the sticky-ness and odd freezing up), they couldn't replace it!

So I went BACK to Verizon and got another pearl after the sales guy explained to me how I could mess around and change a lot of the stuff I didn't like (plus, turns out it was just THAT first phone that had horrible call quality).

Uhh... I probably didn't need to tell you all that...

Basically, I had set up my email on the first phone, so it was automatically set up on the second (unless I'm going crazy or the sales guy is a stalker and knows my address and password and did it for me...)

...but I couldn't figure out how to USE the internet (or get past that above screen) on either!

Sorry this is so long!!

And please explain each step in detail because I'm a total backberry newbie =]

Thanks in advance to all you wonderful people!

Try removing the battery, wait 10 seconds, put it back in and try again. That fixed it for me the first day I had my Pearl.

I believe you have to go to options.....advanced options then choose the browser and registar it on the network..when done...turn off phone..take out batt...then turn on and try it...I believe that is what the verizion person told me to do.

Ugh... I really don't want to take the battery out!

I spent like an hour last night trying to close the battery cover over a folded up piece of paper (one of the many reasons I hated this phone at first was the battery cover was loose-fitting so it slid up and down as I talked on the phone - very distracting).

Oh, well. I guess I'll try it!

Battery pulls are a good thing for the device. It helps free up memory and fix odd quirky issues. That is a common complaint with the pearl. Some people have suggested cutting a business card in half to help it fit better.
