An excellent RIM KB for comparing the feature differences between BIS and BES:

Is there anywhere that has a good guide to which Blackberry plans on which carriers support BES? I.e., I'm looking at an environment where our users provide their own BB devices through their own carriers... and it would be useful to know exactly what they need to have on their carriers for BES support, and how much extra it costs. This information doesn't appear to be readily available anywhere.

Default someoneeeee pleasseee help meeeee.

hi. i recently just got the blackberry bold 9000 and its amazzinnnggg. i am in love with it. but this relationship is becoming so frustrating because I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M DOING.

i joined a gprs monthly package just a few days back and i still don't understand why i cant use the blackberry messenger. all the service provider (China Mobile... im in shanghai, china) gave me was the IP address and the APN. and i don't even know if im a BES or BIS. or whatever it is. i dont even know how to set it up in the first place. i have a mac computer and i got the cd with the BB but then i can't even install it. does this have anything to why i cant use the blackberry messenger? i am COMPLETELY CLUELESS. can someone please please please please pleaseeee help me? it would save me and my bold's depleting relationship.

i am utterly and unforgivably confused.

please save me.

Can you have both services enabled on your device at the same time (eg: BIS to access webmail and BES to get into your Outlook email for work), or is it a one or the other deal ?

Default Switching Phones with BES

I hope someone can help with this. My company is getting us all BB and will get the 8120 or Curve from ATT. I want the bold, as I have had the 8100 for 2 years now. If I get one of the phones from them and then get my wife the Bold with a new contract, is it possible to switch the phones without my IT's support? I am sure it is more than just switching SIM cards, and we will both be ATT. I have never used the BES, only BIS. Does the BES log you with your PIN or MEI #? I would like to switch to a better phone but not sure if possible. Any advice?

I don't know much about all this, but if you just want your emails to be accessible the quickest solution might often be to forward your mails from the web account to the Outlook or other POP account, or vice versa, using the options available on the site/program?

No, they'd need to assign you a new activation password and you'd need to do an Entperprise Activation on the new device.
