Arrow Backup Error

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everyone,

I'm having a problem backing up my Tour. I originally installed DM 5.0 and 4.7 OS, but everytime I kept trying to backup my device, I would get "Error backing up databases" so I tried to clear it through Advanced but then I got "Databases that are unavail in the list have been configured for wireless sync or wireless backup"- So I tried to disable wireless reconciliation through messages and I still got that error. Then I downgraded to DM 4.7 b/c I figured it was a bug, but I am still unable to backup.

Help, please?

Sometimes that problem can be you Browser Cache? This being a brand new phone, I am not sure if that would be it or not. Well if you want to try it here goes. go to your browser-blackberry button-options-cache operations and clear one at a time and see if that helps?

Did you install DM 5.0 from the included cd or did you download it. That may make a difference.

Yeah, the first time I d/l DM 5.0 was with the CD & I have cleared cache and still the same problem. I've had two tours w/ the same issue. I wonder if its desktop manager causing the problem.

Any other ideas?

I just successfully backed up my VZW Tour and it worked like a champ. As a matter of fact, it was incredibly fast.

Are you connected to a BES by chance?

I guess my point was that it isn't a global problem. Just in case it matters I am attached to a BES. Thanks, Dennis

Nope, only BIS. I just wonder what that "wireless sync means".

Certain applications have the ability to sync wirelessly. Check Options in Messages, Address Book, Calendar, Memo Pad, Tasks for wireless sync. Verify they are all set to off. Does it give you an application that it fails on?

One final suggestion would be to go to the Advanced backup/restore section where you can selectively copy the individual or groups of components until you find the database with the issue. At that point you can restore that component from the last successful backup. If you don't have one then you might want to clear that one DB and start over. (Beats wiping and starting over completely.)

Hope this helps.

I received an email this AM from BlackBerry advising me to download 5.0, which I did. I then tried to hot sync to install the 5.0 on my Tour but nothing happened. Can someone please give me a step by step on how to do this?

Thanks very much!
