Question QQ - BES5.0 HA Setup

Please Login to Remove!

Hi folks,

Being a lousy Windows admin fellow myself, may I consult all for a quick one....

For BES 5.0 HA Setup is it a must...

(1) to have a remote SQL server?
(2) that the BES Primary and Standby servers to be installed using a Windows domain account which has Administrator's permissions for both computers?
(3) that both the BES Primary and Standby servers must been from the same Windows domain?

If yes for all above, could you please help explain why?

Thanks in advance...

I'm a lousy WinAdmin too. We can form a club.

1) Yes have a remote SQL server. If you run SQL on your primary BES and it burns up in a UPS fire, so goes your SQL database. BES-HA has no BESMgmt db to use.

2) Yes. Very helpful to be an Administrator on the servers you are actually trying to Admin.

3) Dont know for this one. All mine run in the same domain and never encountered the issue.

I had previously moved the local SQL db to a remote SQL server. Pretty easy except for the dreaded permissions issues. Once those got resolved, it's been chugging along smoothly.

You definately want to have your SQL on a different machine than your BES.
