Default Desktop Manager upgrade behavior

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Storm and Desktop Manager 4.7 (brand new).

I went to run the add/remove applications and was told it needed to upgrade the Blackberry Core applications. I let it proceed. When done (apparently successful except some error with a QuickPull file) it left the radio in the phone off and the broswer missing. I fixed that. I went to Options>Advenced Options>Host Routing Table - menu "Register Now" and the Browser re-appeared.

The next time I ran the add/remove it again showed the core applications needed to be upgraded and the same thing happened.

I cannot seem to "uncheck" upgrading the core applications. Why isnt this completing?

Anyone seen this behavior?

Should I upgrade to DM5? It has been nagging me to do so.

Yes, but now it's still listed in the window and will try to re-upgrade every time I run the utility.

Yeh I know.
It doesnt need updating, because as you said, nothing changes.
Its an anomaly between OS's provided by your carrier which DM retrieves via the internet, and any OS's you have installed to the PC.

And there, apparently, is only one way to stop it. I've: 1. cleane uninstalled several times, 2. followed the instructions for editing the registry for a missing .msi file, 3. Turned the executable into a zip and extracted the .msi file to try to "modify" the install.

The next step would be to uninstall all RIM (device and DM) using both Revo uninstaller, the clean uninstall procedure, then perhaps run WIN's uninstaller repair utility. Then comes the fun part: scrub the registry of every RIM/Blackberry entry.

Too bad someone here has not isolated the registry key(s) that might allow us to turn off the upgrade behavior in DM. I also wonder if there's a setting on the device itself, in the OS, that might stop this. I know several here, Midnight included, have been thinking about this.
