Default What browser to use

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys,

I have two browser options on my main menu but im not sure what one to use:S

One has the Vodafone icon and the other has an icon of "The world"
The Vodafone one is called "Web" and the other one goes by the name "Browser"
They might be the same thing, im just not sure what one to use.

And one more question,

I have bought a blackberry not too long ago, and got a contract with 200Mb a month. now for some reason im already over the limit. I hardly use the internet on it and mainly use Bbm. But even that i dont use tooo often.

Any idea's why i could already be over my limit?

Welcome to the Forums.

The world browser is the blackberry browser and it may offer less restrictions. The other is the carriers browser and is generally linked to their advertizing. I find that using the Blackberry browser vs. the ATT browser offers me more ability. As for the data usage, you should understand that some Apps constantly check for data and they can be draining, BBM does need to check often but not as much as apps like twitter and facebook. Something is using the data. Make sure your not logged in to something that is not off when you think itxxx8217;s off. How about email. That also uses data but generally not that much unless your getting a lot ( hundreds) each day

Thanks alot of your reply

I had the Facebook app on my bb which i have resently deleted. but i remember that i always remained logged in. could this have been draining my Data amount?

And about the web browers, do they both use the same amount of Data?

Thanks.

Being logged in doesn't drain data. Leaving the app running is likely to though.

Most things such as general browsing, email, bbm etc aren't too heavy on data usage. Streaming radio and YouTube, etc will affect it though.

If you're worried about going over consider using WiFi when at home to help save. 200mb is still more than adequate for most users.

If you create the profile as explained by tsac and you have wifi turned on in Manage Connections it will automatically connect to the network when in range, and your apps and browser should automatically begin using wifi for data. You will know when this is working as the wifi icon in the notification area will be Black and White and not greyed out.

This is when you are abroad. It gives you the option to use data when abroad or not on your home network, turn it off or either to prompt you. It is a preference that is yours. I have mine set to off so that when I'm abroad I don't have to worry about getting conned with roaming charges. This only affects the mobile network data; not WiFi.
