Default Thinking about the Plantronics 640, DONT!!!

Please Login to Remove!

I received the plantronics 640 about three months ago after losing my cardo scala 500. With the form factor and weight being in the range I wanted I went with the plantronics instead. THIS WAS A HUGE MISTAKE. After getting the headset and charging it up I received a call from my sister and she didn't complain at all about any extra noises so I was happy. Then came the second person that I talked to on it and had to switch over to the handset in order for them to hear me. I thought maybe this was on their end and gave it no other thought. I got complaints from every person there after when on the headset and now it just sits on my dresser in the charger and I only use it when I'm at home where there is no wind or noise behind me. I never got these complaints with the cardo scala 500. Now I'm looking for a headset with great noise cancelling and small form factor that is easy to wear with glasses. Any suggestions on this? Bottom line the form factor is great on the plantronics but that means nothing if you can't use it.

I forgot to mention all the echoing that also occurs on the headset. I sounds like I'm talking into a cave for half the conversations that I have on it.

The 510 has noise cancelling in it. I believe this in itself will make it a lot better than the 640. When I'm in an area with no other noises the 640 is by far the best sounding headset I have tried. But I can not be in areas with no other noises very often so it does nothing for me.

I have had the 510 for about 3 weeks and like it. I had been using the Jabra 250v but after extended time of it hanging on my ear it got tiring. I have no complaints with the 510. The new 645 will have DSP technology and is due out any day now.

So YOUR 640 did not work out. My 640 is a great device. Thinking about the Plantronics 640? Do.

Each individual finds a headset that is "perfect" for them. Mine, a Motorola HS500. I dont like Jabra because of the form and Plantronics doesnt fit my style (it seems almost to intrusive to me). This is a good review of someone that didnt like the headset, and I am sure there will be people that will provide reviews that do enjoy the 640.
