hey guys im new to the boards and i need help. im not to tech savvy so while i searched and looked at all the stuff on how to get AIM to work on the pearl, i ended up giving up. its not working and i need help. i tried to do the gtalk method with miranda but miranda wanted a icq/irc thing to connect, and now i just tried ramble but its not loggin me in, it says "invalid connection string:Open tunnel -max timeout. so i was wondering if someone could give me a good rundown on this. thankx

common problem. do you have wap.voicestream.com entered into your tcp settings of the phone?

does IM use data or does it use text messages? Because I don't want to incur charges. I only have the unlimited data BIS plan and NOT text messaging. Thanks

Third party IM programs use data. I have T-Mobile so it comes with their OZ instant messaging program, that uses text messaging. I use google talk to chat through AIM.
