LOOKING FOR stand-alone traditional GPS functionality ...

I've been a Garmin GPS user for many years. I'm considering Blackberry 8800, and one reason is its "built-in" gps functionality.
I'm not interested in detailed street maps (map of big roads would be fine like that built into my Garmin IV), locations of macdonalds or a woman's voice telling me to turn soon. This seems to be what "GPS" means to everyone when it is related to PDAs.
I'm interested in traditional lat/long based GPS funcitons like loading in my own lat/long waypoints from my PC, establishing routes (linking a string of waypoints), recoridng new waypoints while in the field, and distance-to-next text and graphic information, (i.e. an arrow on the screen) and exporting the accumulated data back to PC.
All of this functionality does not depend on any outside source, nor any internet data traffic (only the GPS information received by the device). There is no data or maps to buy or subscribe to for this. It's just software that uses the GPS receiver's data.
I see the list of software posted here but noone knows of one-time purchase software that mimics these traditional Garmin-ish "backcountry" GPS functions?
