Are you saying that you have the ability in options>screen-keyboard to turn off auto dim like in the original TMO release?

is it just me or does the screen seem not as bright as it used to be? 100% seems more like 80%.

Autodim has been removed in every release since the initial 4.2.0.42. The only people who still have an option to disable autodim have not updated.

That's because it's in Auto-Dim mode.

BTW, for those of you wondering why you need to replace the alx file, I didn't and it seems to be functioning properly. So although it doesn't answer your question, it appears you can get by without doing it. I just let the DM do its thing.

I have noticed more options when i am in the mailbox...

if I click the pearl, i have like 2 or 3 new options that i don't think were there before....

1. compose email
2. compose pin
3.place call
4.compose sms text
5.compose mms
6.Blackberry Messenger
7>Full menu...

was this here before? i never noticed these many options.

The Blackberry.alx file lives here:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8100-v4.2.0.64_P2.2.0.37

Replace the one that is found there after you install the new OS with the one from my original post. That will enable/load the other carrier's themes (Cingular, O2, Vodaphone, etc.) so you can use 'em...

Is there anyway to do this update without resetting the BES connection. Last update I did (Rogers) I had to contact my IS dept to re-set my BB password (original one did not work). It’s not a big deal but I’d rather not bug them every time I update..

Thanks!

It you are on BES 4.0 (wireless activation) it should activate itself - at least it did for me. I hate having to call those BES admins. Wait - they work for me. Never mind.

another fix is that it allows you to send pictures as email attatchments... this didn't work for me before

EDIT: Nevermind, i still get "this service does not support native attachments" when sending from my yahoo account. Gmail allows it, but then the email fails to send.

Well if its in autodim mode...then its still bright. I remember after the last update that the backlight went dim for a few seconds then the screen black...bu I dont have that anymore..the screen lights up, then goes to black without a dim.

The real problem here is that the desktop manager is not connecting, so I can't do anything to the BB now. Please help.
