Default OS: 8130 4.5.0.122/4.5.0.89 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

This is for the 8130 model and will load on any carrier's 8130

Software For BlackBerry® Pearl (TM) 8130 smartphone BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.122 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.122
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.5.0.89
Software Platform: 3.2.0.52
File name: 8130uAMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel122_PL3.2.0.52_A4.5.0.89_All Tel.exe
File size: 72.94MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...03923A1C591DB4

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8130:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

It has also been reported that Alltel users can get this update via RIM's online update page at:

The only issue I have so far is BerryTunes won't run on 4.5.0.89. BT ran fine on 4.5.0.77, and BerryTunes support confirms it runs on 4.5.0.97 (not released to general public yet).

<Edit>BerryTunes support confirmed they have it running fine on 4.5.0.89, so I'm going to have to do some work on my end - looks like something got crossed up on my Pearl during the upgrade....</edit>

Everything else looks good so far...don't have a 16 GB memory card to test yet...support for the new 16 GB cards is the key feature I want from this release.

Redflea,

I think you said in the other post that going through Blackberry's website would not allow you to upgrade onto your Verizon phone, correct?

I have a co-worker that has her BB P 8130, but it's through Verizon, and she's running a 4.3 o/s currently and wants to upgrade. I wasn't sure which direction to point her in (this one above or through Verizon's site, which takes you to BB's upgrade site that I believe you had problems with).

Thanks!

She won't be able to upgrade via RIM's BB update site. Also, Verizon still doesn't have 4.5 available as an update on their download pages.

So she will have to download the SW from the link at the top of this thread and follow the instructions.

How do I preserve the version of Docs-to-go I have installed. THe installer wants to either downgrade or remove. I can not find a way to get it to leave the upgraded version I have installed.

Cheers Thanks
Dean

Rename the docs2go.alx file in the directory below:

C:\program files\common files\research in motion\Shared\Loader Files\8130-v4.5.0.89_P3.2.0.52

My bad...looks like this isn't a general issue. Berry Tunes support (those guys are amazing!) checked on on OS 4.5.0.89 on a Pearl and it works for them, so something must have gotten messed up during the upgrade.

I don't understand why the desktop manager won't show this upgrade to the OS. Is this a beta or have all the bugs been wrung out?

Did you delete the vendor.xml file? DTM won't recognize the new OS otherwise. Be sure the read and follow the instructions in the first post above.

This is also a full release not a beta.

No, I didn't do anything yet. I just got my Pearl 2 weeks ago and am still hesitant to download to it. It works fine now, so I am just trying to feel it out. This board is a good resource. I'm just trying to make sure that I'm not going to crash the thing.

Thanks!

Upgraded last night. Upgrade was flawless..
I did have one issue.. I could not play youtube video's after the upgrade I tired everything from this thread, http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...lackberry.html , to try to fix it with no luck.
I left it charge over night and tried again this morning and now it works. It may have been a poor network connection issue, where dropped packets caused the streaming media to be unreadable.

So for now I'm happy. I have not come across any other issues.

If you're two weeks into a new device, I'd suggest you wait a bit before upgrading the OS, if only so that you have time to learn a bit more and feel more comfortable with it.

Your phone works fine, and doesn't "need" to be updated to the new OS...just take it easy and read and absorb information, and use your BB.
