Default Can BB 8320 wifi access internet without data plan

Data plans have gotten ridiculously overpriced. T-mobile Non BES Data plan is now $39/month. we have unlocked Blackberry BB curve 8320 with wifi. Is it possible to access internet with out a data plan at a hotspot using wifi instead of T-mobile cellular GPRS10, Edge, or 3G ? We do not need internet access when away from wifi hot spot, so why would we need to buy these data plans. We would subscribe to T-mobile voice and text plan and avoid these overpriced data plans. Please Advise

Default No option to change APN address on 8900 on Rogers

I have a BB Curve 8900 on Rogers.

When I go to the TCP/IP settings, there is no option to set the APN, only:

APN Settings Enabled (Checkbox)
APN Authentication Enabled (Checkbox)
then username and password.

I'd like to set the APN to internet.com (if it's not already set). Really what I'd like to do is to be able to have 'true' internet without having to connect to wifi. I keep getting "Tunnel Failed" errors running SSH or an IMAP mail client.

If anyone can suggest something, please let me know.

Thanks

Default tour 9630

I have an unlocked Telus 9630 tour. I am using it in Africa with an MTN sim card. My calls and SMS work fine. Other blackberry users over here can get internet access. I am just wondering if anyone knows a way to get my instant messaging working on a pay as you go sim card. Any tips would be helpful.

Default The other way around?

I'm a relatively new Blackberry user and signed up for an unlimited Blackberry plan with "Three" in Hong Kong. After the first month I was billed a VERY large amount on top of my already expensive plan. Apparently I had used data OTHER than Blackberry data?? Firstly I don't know which of my apps use BB data and which apps use generic data! I wouldn't even know how to check! Secondly, I have checked my TCP/IP settings and the box for APN Settings was unchecked. How is it using generic data if there is no APN set up?

Lastly, I have been reading this and other such posts and it seems that many users want to use Blackberry software without BIS/BES and there IS a way to do this BUT is it possible to do the reverse? As in, is it possible to not have my BB use generic data at all and have all data through BIS?

Please help!

I use Storm 9530, have configured APN settings which I believe are correct, made all types of experiments. However, unable to use GPRS. The Phone always displays GSM below the network signal bars. Can anyone help?
