Default 8230 Question

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my new Blackberry 8230 3 days ago from verizon. I have my home email sent to my phone but I was wondering if anyone knows if and where can I go in and turn it off and on to check for new mail or if I can go in and adjust how often it checks. It really runs my battery down throughout the day checking for new emails almost 5-10 seconds apart? Thanks in advance

One more thing, Does anyone make an extended life battery for my 8230 and if so do I have to buy a different back for it? Thanks

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

If you are using BIS, the answer is no. Just turn off the radio dial if you don't want to check or keep plugged in.

I seriously doubt that checking email is what is running your battery down, unless you are constantly receiving something, and BIS does not check every 5 to 10 seconds as you suggest.

RIM polls your email servers every 15 minutes and pushes mail that is found to your device. Then it checks again in 2- 3 minutes and if mail is found, that is pushed and a repoll occurs in another 2-3 minutes. This cycle continues until no mail is found, at which time the cycle reverts to a 15 minute poll and everything begins again.

My guess is there are things running in the background that is draining the battery. What apps are you using? Facebook? Twitter? Youtube? Are you surfing a lot?

In any case, you should close each app as you finish with it, not just exit out.
