I'm liking everything about the 8900. Everything that is, except for the fact that I can tap out sentences faster with the Flip/SureType w/Predictive Text, than I can on full QWERTY. I think if spell checking auto-correction was more robust, I'd be happier with the full QWERTY, but as it is, I'm missing the speed of the the Flip's keyboard. Having said that though, is that reason enough to switch back to the Flip? Considering all of the other benefits of the 8900, I'm on the fence. Thanks.

I think it all comes down to personal taste....

For me, a flip phone is almost exclusively all I use.... and my 8220 is also my main mp3 player... even though the media functions are the same in both cellphones (maybe faster on the 8900) I still prefer the media functionality on the Flip... i.e. I can still be able to use it with lid closed....

If the only reason keeping you from upgrading (well actually switching) to an 8900 is the typing mode... then I would say go for it... cause you may be able to adapt quickly to that kind of keyboard.... We all have to adapt...

I've currently got both, and am using the 8900. I plan on selling one, but I'm just not sure which. Using the full QWERTY on the 8900, has made me want to go back to the Flip, but as you noted, the 8900 is the faster device (great looking display too). I'll probably have to go back and forth again, and see what works better for me. I'm one of those (in the minority it seems) that wishes RIM had left predictive text on the full QWERTY devices. I've gone from a Pearl to an 8320 to an 8200. It takes me a couple of days to adjust, but then, I'm fine.

Started on a Pearl 8130, moved to a Curve 8330, and now I'm back on a SureType device, the Flip 8230. For me, SureType is just a better choice.

I can type really fast with my 8120 and now that I have a computer at work I might reactivated. SureType is awesome and you get a small device.
