Default Basic headphone/2.5mm adapter question

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I am getting ready to purchase an audio adapter for bb 8830. My questions is this: If I am listening to music through headphones, will I be alerted to incoming calls through the headphones, or will I have to actually be looking at the phone to see that I have a call coming in? Then, once I am aware that I have an incoming call, will I have to unplug my the adapter and my headphones from the phone in order use the phone, or can I just answer the call and use the phone as normal while still leaving my headphones plugged in?

I ask this because Seidio sells two different adapters, and the answer to this question will dictate which one I buy.

We actually did a review of the Seidio headphone adapter here on our website.

You will find that when you get a call you will hear the audio on the headphones. If you do not purchase the adapter with the mic built in then you will have to disconnect the headphones to get the mic to work on the 8800. I cant promise for other phones like the 8100 what would happen since I do not have one. The other option is to get the Seidio headphone adapter with the mic but I personally found the mic to be so far away from the headphones that it was useless. You can check out the mic one here:

Personally If you feel ready to try something new you may want to try the new shure headphones with built in 2.5mm adapter. I'd be curious to see how that would work

That reply was right on point, thank you! I think I am going to go with the Seido adapter without the built in mic because as long as I can hear that a call is coming in, I don't have a problem just unplugging the headphones.

I checked out the Shure headphones you suggested. If I am looking at the right ones, they seem a little high priced for my needs. If I'm mistaken and they actually aren't expensive, just send me a link to the right page an I'll check them out before I buy the Seido adapter. Thanks again.
