Upcoming BlackBerry 9650 Possibly Delayed, May Be Called Bold Instead Of Tour

"Word on the street is that the BlackBerry 9650 may be delayed because of software issues. The device might also be called the Bold as compared to the Tour.

Some Verizon stores did get the 9650. They were sent back for “updates”. Verizon won’t release the 9650 until the official OS 5.0 arrives for the Tour 9630. The Sprint 9650’s are having WiFi issues and Sprint is working that out. And at the end of the email he states: “it won’t be called the Tour 2. It’s the Bold 9650.

I wonder if the name Tour is being dropped because of all the issues with the trackball on the Tour 9630 whereas the reputation of the Bold is pretty solid?"

oh yeh 3 Bold models to keep track of.
lovely....
If it looks like a tour, and feels like a tour, its a tour.
That should be the same for the Bold 2, but well we know it isn't.

Search. Been discussed.

It isn't just wifi data; it's UMA, too. And it's a big plus for many.

To that one

Well, we all new the Tour was more or else the CDMA's Bold.. this just goes back to a years worth of forum posts, "when will the Bold come to VZW"..

I'm still even more shocked they renamed, which more or less admits a massive marketing mistake, Of course it is one the normal consumer will be oblivious and will only be know to a hand full of the community.

I'm looking forward to it (whatever it's called) since I've decided to replace the Droid with the Tour2/Bold9650/Whatjamacallit. I miss my Blackberry.

FWIW, I brought my curve 8330 in for service and the manager said I should just give up waiting and get the tour. He was waiting for the same thing but he said they usually hear a rumor within a month or two of release and there's been no news. Granted he's just a retail store manager but this might be useful news to some.

The only difference will be the trackpad and I'm not so sure the trackpad is better anyway. Threaded SMS is already available on most models with the beta OS's.

And WiFi. Also rumored to have a faster processor, a better camera, and more memory than the existing tour.

You may not care about those things, but I do.

well hell i'll upgrade for all those reasons too if the damn thing ever comes out. i did run out and buy a used tour 9630 for sprint and this thing is my 2nd bb after the 8330 and it is stellar. i'm saving my upgrade discount for the 9650 when it comes out but it better have more than wifi and a trackpad.

Blackberry 9650 Essex with Sprint branding? A hoax no more… | Specs Review | Pinoytutorial Techtorial

Check this link. I can't prove that all the information is accurate, of course, but this IS the rumor mill forum.

that would mean this 9700 is no longer the flagship berry

How does the tour basically go from a CDMA 8900 to a Super Bold????

That prob would explain the name change though.
