Angry E-Mail not receiving messages but sending them fine

Please Login to Remove!

My blackberry Curve 8350 has not, since around January 9th not been receiving any emails at all. I've tried battery pulls, email setup, sending the service logs and none if it works. I also thought it may have something to do with the fact that my phone has also been running abnormally slow recently. so i was trying to free up as much memory as possible... i have 94,012,377 bytes left and that seems like a lot. anyways, any help is appreciated thanks!

Which email service is it? If you access your email from a computer, is all well in that case.

Weird email issues that are not fixed by a battery pull or resending service books may be fixed by the following steps: Delete your email address from BIS. Delete the service books for that address. Do a hard reset. Wait a while to allow the RIM system to do whatever it does to process your removal of the addresses. This is a guess. Wait 2 or 3 hours or half a day. Add your address back in BIS. Resend service books if it doesn't happen automatically. Then test.

You have the consumer BlackBerry data plan, correct? And you added you yahoo email to the BlackBerry by entering the address and password either into the setup wizard on the handset or at your carrier's website. You would remove it same way. Go wherever you went before, and delete.

A hard reset is a battery pull. But it is accomplished by doing so with the power on, and wait at least 30 seconds.

You said you sent "service logs". First time through your post I thought you meant service books. Whatever, see How do I resend my service books? - BlackBerryFAQ for instructions on resending service books.

Before you go to the trouble of deleting your address from BIS, you might simply try resending service books alone.

Try what I suggested regarding deleting the address from the device/your BIS account, and deleting the yahoo email address service books, then add again after waiting a few hours. Post an update.

Ok so I tried waiting the few hours after deleting and it didn't do anything at all. I resent the service books and rebooted and went through the whole email set up process and it still doesn't work... I can still send though. And the battery pull sped my phone up a ton! Thanks!

I don't think the problem is you. I think it is Yahoo, somehow. I don't know what to advise at this point. I believe you've done all you can on your end. You might try contacting Yahoo throught their email help web page, but I doubt you will get anywhere...they'll probably say it's BlackBerry's fault.

Sometimes when you can't fix the problem, and I've been through this with my BB email address, you just have to give up and create a new email address.

cwhittaker, I gotta ask this. Did you double check the options/settings when you added the yahoo address to your BIS, and make sure that you didn't somehow check a box to not forward messages to the handset?

gmail has the same problem? Hmmmm. Maybe it is you. I don't have any new ideas short of wiping the OS, resintalling the OS (or doing an upgrade) and starting with a clean device. I can't help but think there is something simple being missed, however.

hmm interesting that you say update it. i currently have v 5.0.0.973 (bundle 1596,Platform 4.2.0.422) installed on it now. any idea if this is the most recent? I haven't updated it for a while so it is very possible. I am away from my USB charger at the moment so I am unable to check for sure... also is there a box that you can check regarding message forwarding? THANKS!
