I was having the same issues, lifting a bit that grey plastic thing helped me for several days. I just bought a mid plate, search it as 9000 midplate in cnn.cn (i cannot post links yet), replaced it and all is working fine now.

Problem Solved! My Blackberry Bold 9000 notification and ringer volume dropped to nothing a couple of weeks ago. I could see from the forums that I'm not the only one. I took my Blackberry to a local cellular repair shop here in Austin, and as soon as I told them I was having volume problems, the first thing they said was "Is that a 9000"? The good news is that they fixed on the spot in less than 15min. There is something in the Bold 9000 external speaker connection that can come loose under the cover. You need a repair shop to fix it, but it's quick and cheap. If you don't have a local cellular repair shop where you are, call or mail it to allwirelessrepair in Austin TX.
PS, I love my Bold, but I have Curve envy!

do NOT lift to high on that box!

i got carried away , and the speaker stopped working altogether, but worked if i pushed the box back down.
i bent it back a bit , and now it's louder than ever.


went from being scared i broke it, to extremely satisfied!
