Default Problem with adding my work e-mail

Please Login to Remove!

Hey Everyone,
I'm facing a problem when adding my work e-mail Outlook as I get that the server name is invalid or incorrect even though Nokia users have used the same one and its working fine with them
The server name is https :// em.elm.com.sa
Note: I've managed to add my Hotmails successfully

I would appreciate your support

Thanks....

Does your employer use a BES server for BlackBerry devices?

If your employer uses a BES server, then the BES Admin will need to set you up and provision the device.

If you are using BIS and trying to add a POP/IMAP account to get work email, then you need the incoming email server id.

From the FAQ: http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.p..._on_BlackBerry

You'll have to ask your IT department. Nokia and iphone reach out to a server that is typically a mirror of the exchange server that exists on the web. That server would have to be IMAP or POP capable in order to use the BIS to access email (and you wouldn't have calendar, etc. syncing).

The BES interfaces directly with the exchange server.

The address you have is a web address, not an exchange server address.

for instance, my company has both. We have a web mirror (which is NOT IMAP, POP capable) that Nokia and iphone with the proper software can use to sync email, calendar, etc. For blackberry we have a BES.

Absolutely! If the server shows https in a browser, you will need that in the setup.

When you set the account up in BIS, you will simply need to type https:// before the webmail address when prompted to enter the Outlook Web Access URL.

At step 4, you need to choose Outlook Web Access.

What are you using for the login?

It needs to be in the format of "domain\logon", not your e-mail address.

Then you should be fine... I'm not sure what the issue is then. Have you spoken with your corporate IT support?

Fahad11 - If you find the answer to your problem can you let me know. I have the same situation now but mine was working but the first time I set it up I was using a Blackberry software on a PDA with the ssl option It continued to work even when I changed device to a proper Blackberry and only failed when the exchange password required to be updated.

I can't believe we are the only people in the world with this issue, I'm starting to think that being part of a large multi national organistaion that extra security has been applied to prevent Blackberry's from connecting in the belief that they present some form of security threat and I know that sounds stange given that I can access my email on my home PC using OWA.

If I find the solution before you, I'll post it here.
Good hunting my freind.

You guys are NOT the only people in the world with this problem - I have been trying to figure it out for 6 months now, and the only thing that I get is the "Cannot connect to email server or invalid server name" error. Please - anybody! If you were able to get this working (BIS on Blackberry communicating with OWA) please let us know!!!
