Default APN Settings

I have a statement/question about the APN settings for the 8220.

In the APN settings of the 8220, it has epc.tmobile.com instead of the standard wap.voicestream.com.

Has anybody noticed a difference? Is the 8220 the only phone that has those settings? Has anybody tried those settings on a different phone?

I noticed that today when I stopped in the TMO store I wanted to know if it would work for the other BB's. I won't be able to check untill my trackball comes in maybe tomorrow. Got my GlobalStat Bt-359 GPS receiver today, and I'm ready to check it out.

wap.voicestream.com worked for me. I've switched between different APN's without any apparent problems; all internet apps worked the same.

I was having some hiccups with the epc.tmobile.com APN so I put in the wap.voicestream.com and the problems went away.

The web browser wouldn't load pages correctly, they would take forever, the would get stuck halfway, etc.

I took out epc.tmobile.com and replaced APN with wap.voicestream.com to use WiFi browsing on 8220 with a SIM that did not have any data service.

When it had epc.tmobile.com as APN, the browser kept on telling me that I have no Data Service subscription and provides a link to TMO's data subscription page.

... this is what I had observed....

First post ^_^
I just got the Flip 8220 and I love it so far. I also didn't get any data plan, just the BB Feature Enabler. I've been trying to figure out why I can't run certain apps, and i'm anxious to try switching the APN settings once I'm home. I was successful at running Opera Mini 4.1, but I couldn't get GMail App 2.0.6 to work, it kept saying I needed to have a data plan even though I was trying on WiFi.

I'll update once I try it at home, I'm sure this'll be handy for others.

Update: Changing the APN to wap. voicestream. com didn't help me with GMail or IM programs.

Default epc.tmobile.com vs wap.voicestream.com

epc.tmobile.com allows JiveSlide to at least connect and download my list of photos on Flickr, when I switch to wap.voicestream.com I get a networking error before anything happens at all. (For me with Pearl Flip 8220 on T-mobile)
