8700 Best Blackberry Ever Made is Discontinued!
Please Login to Remove!
Hello All,
The sad news that the best blackberry ever made is slowly being sold out in all carriers stock. Never to be replaced again. I have several friends and co-workers that agree that the 8700 form factor was the pinnacle of blackberry design. Here are the reasons:
1) Best keyboard ever developed for any pda phone anywhere period. Keys are perfect size and layout is dead on.
2) Analog Thumbwheel allows one handed precision input while doing other tasks.
3) Speakerphone is one of the best ever made.
4) Os is quick repsonding and stable. I dont remeber it ever crashing.
5) Bluetooth stack is very well done and bette rthan most phones.
6) Size with in hand feel weight is just right.
The new blackberry mouse to me and everyone i know is two steps back for Rim. Why hasnt anyone made a petition to blackberry ? You have to use both hands to do anything and input is not precise. Os feels laggy on curve and the keys are too small to enjoy typing. The 8800 keys are cramped and again suffers from non precise mouse.
I would like to see a new blackberry keeping the 2 best features of an 8700.
1)Keyboard
2)Trackweel
I urge everyone in here to take a vote in here for RIM to see.......

I like the pearl and find it to be quite precise especially after adjusting the sensitivity!
I am a die hard 8700 guy and even had a bit of anxiety when I switched to the 8800 literally!

I would vote, but it would be against everything you've posted.
Personally, I disagree with all of your points. (Maybe I agree with #4.)
The "best" BlackBerry could not possibly be determined since the whole idea of "best" is entirely subjective.

its all opinion.
I just finally left my 8700 recently. THe size of my curve is much nicer. Althought I did find the 8700 slightly more comfortable to type on, the curve isn't so far off! I do like it much better than the 8800. As for the trackball, it is nice, I do like it better, but I do admit and agree with you, the curve no requires a little more two handed use sometimes. There are certain things I could have done with 1 hand on my 8700 that I could on the curve.

Trackwheel vs Trackball has been discussed from time to time.
I like the trackball. I wonder if there would be a demand for th trackwheel once people became used to the other options.

Love the passion man. But don't know if I agree with many of your posts.
Re: the trackwheel - at first, I was like "WTF? Why would they get rid of it? Doesn't that define the blackberry?" But I've come to really like the little trackball.
As others have said, though, that's been discussed to death.

It is kinda sad to think that in a couple of years, the trackball will be viewed as old school if it is not already, i love my 8700
