It's the difference between buying a Honda Civic or a Porsche Boxster.
If your budget allows, get the Bold. No question. My opinion of course.

What is it you're looking for a device?
Do you need a camera? Do you need GPS? Do you need 3G?

The Rogers branded Bold on AT&T works fine... just like any other BlackBerry on AT&T.
3G, GPS, and WiFi work perfectly. Yes, you can use the WiFi browser to browse the web without a data plan... but I don't do that. I have a data plan.

I agree with all the other posts. The choice is easy.

Since size is not a concern for you, the Bold is the absolute right choice. I can't imagine why someone would take an 88xx over a Bold, other than price.

The only reason to get an 8820 over a Bold right now is to use UMA. Other than that, the Bold is the superior choice!

one thing you should consider Harry, Battery life. Though Bold is superior but 8820 battery life is superb. i'm currently using Bold and that's the only thing that drives me up to the wall!! Battery life

I have them both. I upgraded from my 8820 to a Bold. The only difference really is the camera, higher res screen, and 3G, at least as far as features go. The 8820 is more stable than the Bold though.

I give the Bold a big edge, like 100 vs 85 for the 8820.
