I'm running a BlackBerry 8830 v4.2.2.66 with a 2GB microSD card connecting to a Windows XP laptop with BlackBerry Desktop Manager v4.2.2.14.
When I connect it via USB, I get "Found New Hardware: RIM BlackBerry SD USB Device", then "Found New Hardware: Disk Drive", then a dialog box labeled "Found New Hardware Wizard":
Cannot Install This Hardware
There was a problem installing this hardware:
RIM BlackBerry SD USB Device
An error occurred during installation of this device
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
I have reformatted the card from the BlackBerry, didn't help.
I renaming the volume label (currently BLACKBERRY) a couple of different ways, including blank, didn't help.
I tried removing and reinstalling the BlackBerry software on my laptop, didn't help.
However, there seem to be no other side effects. I can access the microSD card when the BlackBerry 8830 is attached (set to default to Mass Storage mode) as drive E, and Media Manager works fine with it. My only observation is that it's reeeeeaaaaalll slow copying things to the microSD card, but I figure that's probably just normal. I've been able to fill the card to capacity with movies, watch them on the BlackBerry, and then delete them and add more without issue in Media Manager.
I've just ignored this error so far. Think something's wrong?
