Wink t-mob curve 8320 w/ GPS?

Please Login to Remove!

Jst got my curve over the weekend... AWESOME!
I carried HTC Shadow for couple weeks and the battery wouldn't even last 24 hrs. w/ NO application on and almost no basic-phone activities!!
Best of value, T-Mob was trying to get rid of the Pale Gold edition due to the new Sunset color, so it went down from $150 to $100, and some of the store still have em..
As T-Mob doesn't provide GPS service, would it be possible to put a GPS service on my 8320? (w/ extended provider like Tom2 or if the phone is unlocked and I use other mobile provider?)

The only way to get GPS functionality on the 8320 is to pair it up with a Bluetooth GPS receiver.
Probably run you about 50-80 bucks.

Download Google Maps. it uses the towers to give you an approximate idea of your location by a few hundred yards. I love it and use it all the time.

hi I have a navibe BT puck GPS. I know it's not the size you're looking for, but I like it for the specs, SIRF III chip IIRC. I got it about xmastime for a palm tx. Got it from semsons.com, but buygpsnow.com is also another place to look

Actually none of the carriers offer GPS service. at&t rebrands and resells Telenav but it's a GPS app (subscription), not a service. You don't need to get your GPS app from your carrier. You can use any GPS app for the BB. See the GPS forum for a complete list.

GPS service is from the network of GPS satellites. The carriers have nothing to do with it.

I'd also recommend checking the GPS forum. IIRC the Freedom receiver discussed there is fob-sized.

Oh wait -- the review for it is in the BBF Review forum:

The cool thing about Google Maps is that it will use a GPS receiver, if available, and will triangulate if there is no receiver or if the receiver is unable to get a satellite fix.

I just picked up a Holux M1200 for $60. Not key fob size, but thumb drive.
