Default OS: v5.0.0.591 For the BB Tour 9630

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.591

Consisting of:

* Software Platform: 4.2.0.272
* File name: 9630cmpttAMEA_PBr5.0.0_rel1002_PL4.2.0.272_A5.0.0. 591
* File size: 102MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: BlackBerry® Software Updates

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9630:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Lot up great changes with 5. I think everyone's gonna love it.
Instead of custom for vibrate, now both can be set to use always.
Somewhat minor, but there are a lot of other changes.

If you are trying to get the wireless update, you won't see it unless you have 4.7 on your device, at least that is whats being reported.

as stated in the other thread on this upgrade others are noticing volume issues. i too notice it,my default was set at 50% on 4.7 now that i upgraded to 5.... (ota) i have to bring it up to 100%. this also happend on my jawbone headset.

on a seperate thread i started i cant hear the visual voicemail playback with the upgrade, i never tried it with 4.7 so i do not know if it worked with that.

the free memory is up to 76 form 58 prior.

i can flag emails for follow up-nice!

Is this update ok for my Sprint Tour as long as I delete "vendor.xml"? Also, what is the difference between .484 and .591? Thanks.
