Default Problems trying to update to v5

Please Login to Remove!

Hi
after reading the post on how to update the firmware I tried following the instructions and still cant get my BB to update to v5.

I hope someone can help answer, would it matter that my phone is from o2 uk and was unlocked but the only update file i could find was the vodaphone version.

Ive deleted the vendor.xml file and desktop manager finds the update version but it has a * next to it and says only subscribers may update.

I tried updating to this and also a version from Asia but still no luck.

I am currently on operating system v 4.6.1.206 platform v4.2.0102

Any help would be much appreciated.

Try using loader as opposed to desktop manager.

With the new OS installed on your pc and your BB connected (and the vendor.xml file deleted!), go to C: > Program Files > Common Files > Research In Motion > AppLoader. Double-click on Loader icon. That should start AppLoader.exe, which is far different than the Loader part of Desktop Manager.

Just a curious question, what happens if you don't delete vendor.xml?

AppLoader won't "see" the OS. Vendor.xml ensures you install OS's only from the carrier your phone is on.
