Default Email - Date

Please Login to Remove!

Hiya,

Just inherited a Bold 9000 BB with 5.0 software installed. I've added my Sky email to it and it has successfully synced it all, but all my emails are sorted by when the BB pulled them down, not when the email was actually sent, which is no good to me.

How do I change it so it sorts them when the email was sent/received, not when it was pulled to the BB.

Cheers

There is no way to change it.

Ha ha, April 1 was a long time ago.

What's the fix please.

There is no setting. They are sorted in the Messages app by the date time they arrived.

What I recommend to my users is to not show the date in the list of messages since you can see the real date the message was sent by opening it and scrolling up in to the header of the message.

Really really? That just beggers belief! I chose the 'leader' of mobile email and it's not even intelligent enough to sort by the date the email was actually properly received.

I travel a lot (roaming) so wouldn't have my BB on all the time. When I do turn it on I could get maybe 50 emails come in spanned over a week or so and I just simply cannot have them all grouped under the date the BB pulled them down. No other mail client I know of does it in this way -imagine the uproar Microsoft would get if this is how Outlook done it.

And frankly, it is just a rediculous design - having to open each email and scroll up to the headers to see when it actually came it!! I'd love to hear RIM's explanation as to how this slipped passed the design stage.

Knew I should have got an iPhone or Android As it is, I think I would actually be better off not even having a mobile device than what I have, and just use OWA when I'm in an internet kiosk.

Sounds like you need to choose a different mobile device.

Yes, you posted this the other day before you deleted it and left your original reply (I received the subscription email). Almost as if you already knew the answer but wanted something to complain about.

If you don't like it, switch to another device. Nobody is holding a gun to your head and making you use a BlackBerry.

I could say exactly the same thing about people being happy with this very poor design.

In fact, I'd love to know how people can prefer this design over the 'normal' way of doing it and how your users are happy with it.

Never - ever - received a complaint about it. 3500 BlackBerrys. I guess what is critical to some people doesn't matter a bit to others.
