Default Can't use Browser if WIFI connected

Please Login to Remove!

Hi
I have a Bold 9800.
If I have a network connected via WiFi I cannot use the Browser - all attempts to browse end up with failure. If I turn off the Wifi network it works fine.

Thoughts and advice?

Have you got the latest OS? Some early BB6 builds are glitchy.

Also, when on wifi, check to see if app data is working. If so, its likely the OS. Its either old, or has deceloped a glitch.

Unless this problem JUST started, then try a battery pull first.

I had 6.0 Bundle 695 which I upgraded to 6.0 bundle 2475. Downloaded this with WiFi on but not sure if it used it? Is there a way of knowing which connection is being used?

Took hours to download and install.

Afterwardsthings like twitter, LinkedIn etc work. Doing a google search after selecting the Browser from the main menu works.
Trying to browse to a website results in 'Acommunication failure has occurred...'.
Switching off the wireless and browsing again results in success, and the pages come up pretty fast and Google searches are faster????
Don't quite see how WiFi gives me anything??

WiFi is generally much faster than EDGE or even 3G on a BlackBerry. Also, data used over WiFi does not count against any monthly allotment your plan might have. If you have a 2GB/month plan, you can use 100GB over WiFi and not touch your 2GB allowance. Another benefit is that if you're traveling overseas where using your regular data plan would be monstrously expensive, waiting until you're in a WiFi area and using only that connection to send/receive your email is not only cheaper - it's free!

H'mmm - I turned off my wireless leaving only my WiFi connection to my network.
Sent myself an email -- seemed to take a while fort he BB to indicate a sent status.
Entering a search in Google worked once (fairly slow) but after that I got 'Acommunication error has occurred...'
The google search was one I had performed before so possibly in cache. Cleared cache before running more tests.

Similar message if I attempted to browse to a website.
Seems my BB just doesn't use the WiFi connection properly - Am I missing a setting somewhere to tell it to?

Normally you have to use the Setup app or Network Connections to configure the WiFi network by entering the web key. Maybe you should speak to the college network admins and see if there are any procedures you need to follow before accessing their network.
