Yeah, I would exchange it now. No point waiting to see if an OS upgrade fixes it. I'm not seeing wild behavior like that. I've read of some issues others are having, but nothing that extreme. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile
Oh and I came into work this morning and plugged it into my wall charger.... Immediately went from 0% battery to 76%....
I'm going to do the 'debrick' OS re-install and see how it goes.
If I can go a week without the issues I've had, then I'm willing to stick with it and not do a return quite yet.
RIM's support asked me to preform the debrick OS reload, so I'll follow that and hopefully keep the case open for a while so I can test it and see if the device is back to normal.
*crosses fingers* here's hoping!
.... Aaaaaaand immediately after doing the debrick it started up and went to setup..... *DING DING, DING DING* dead battery being reported....
Bad PlayBook..... :(
Then I plug in the wall charger, and BAM, battery is back....
Why the hell does this thing just die (or think it's dead) when plugged into computer USB?! I know it provides lower power but come on it will still charge the freaking thing...
The debrick install was what I was referring to. My understanding is that is whqt happens when you force a re-install/upgrade. (I did it once just for giggles and saw "debrick" on the message or file name during the download.)
More I think about it the less I expect it will make a difference.
Well it has been almost 24 hours since the debrick install.
I took out my playbook this morning and everyhting seemed ok, connected to my home Wi-Fi (had not done it last night)
And literally just now as I was about to report the device is working alright..... *DING DING, DING DING* my battery is at 0%.
What's really freaky is plugging into the wall charger and it immediately goes back to what the battery life really was.
Time to reply to the RIM support rep and tell her that not only did she obviously not read my issue description (where I specifically explain what's going on and what I've tried to do in attempt to releive it) but that I want a replacement.
Oh and now 20 minutes later I swipe my finger on the screen to turn the backlight on, and it went from 0 to 30% battery.
I'll see if I can actually get it to a REAL 0%, charge it, use it for 24 hours and see if it happens again I guess... but I'm still following up with RIM support.
