I guess this will be just like the iPhone's visual voicemail feature.

BG just put up a new post about this, its compatible with a "variety of Windows Mobile handsets, as well as newer model BlackBerrys including the BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry 8800, and the BlackBerry Pearl."


I have just tried it and so far it works perfectly on my pearl, i can see who called, what time, how long of a message it is and i can also play it off my phone and rewind it an replay it! it Works perfectly!

P.S. Sorry if this has been posted before but i started a new thread because i don't think this service i particular has been mentioned...

P.P.S. The reason for the "kinda" is because, currently, the SimulSays service works only with AT&T/Cingular and T-Mobile. And (I think?) you must have OS 4.2 for this service to work.

I've been using this for about 3 days now and it works great. My only concern is the effect of the message client on battery life, but so far it's been ok.

Just downloaded it today on my Curve. Works great! Very cool program.

It's a very cool program. The notification software (SimulSays) is free, but if you want your messages transcribed into text by SimulScribe, it's $9.95 per month for a max of 40 messages, and $0.25 for each message beyond 40.

I find this very useful, since I can read a voicemail that's left for me without interrupting a meeting or while on the phone with someone else.

I don't understand how it works...I tried leaving myself a voicemail after installing the SimulSays app. The voicemail icon on my phone turned on, but the SimulSays app says I have no messages.

Edit - never mind, it would help if I finished reading the directions.

are you sure you enabled the forwarding feature? Calls get forwarded to their system, this way they can notify you through their client.

They should have sent you an email with instructions, and the number should look something like *004*xxxxxxxxx*11# , where the x's are a phone number they send you. dial it, and a confirmation message will pop up

Evidently this service works by forwarding your voicemail to there server, but i looked on tmobiles website and it says "Additional per minute charges apply to calls forwarded to another number." Does any one know anything about this? And do you know how much it cost to forward a call?

It is not actually call forwarding per se. Redirection to voicemail when you do not answer or click "ignore" is an included part of your service. (You do not currently get charged for each call sent to voicemail.) By entering the code they provide with your activation, you are reprogramming your phone to redirect unanswered calls to a different number. If you decide you no longer want to use the service, you enter another code to go back to the default voicemail number.

At least that is how it was explained to me by support by the folks who make SimulSays. Having access to the necessary codes is the reason why the service is only currently available to clients of Cingular and T-Mobile.

Is this program easy to uninstall? Does it slow down the phone at all? Also the registration asks for my PIN#, but it will not accept it because it has a letter in it ("F")--it says it must be all numbers.

I just installed it, tested it, and it works great. I found it helpful to print out the instructions they email you and program the phone that way. The messages take a few minutes to be converted over to text, but once its done and emailed, its excellent. Another must have piece of software!

It is easy to uninstall, though you have to do all 3 steps:
1. Go back to your default voicemail by typing the code that they give you (for T-Mobile, it's ##004#<send>....might be different for Cingular/AT&T, but regardless the right code is given to you in your welcome email)
2. Delete the SimulSays application from your BB.
3. Log onto your account on the SimulScribe website and delete the account from the Self Service menu.

I have not noticed it slowing my handheld or causing any appreciable difference in battery usage.

The conversion to text seems to take no more than a minute or two, and often much less. The nice thing is that you have the option of listening to the voicemail recording if you don't want to wait to receive the transcribed version.

The PIN it's asking for is not your phone PIN. It wants you to create a numeric PIN for your SimulSays voicemail account. Choose any 4-10 digit number you like.

P.S.: I made the same mistake the first time I tried to sign up.

When they say pin, they just want a code, it can be any numeric code, its like your password. I also thought they meant my Pearls Pin # too..

i tried the ##440# since i have tmobile and i got a Supplementary service error: Unexpected data value and now when i try callin my phone to test if it went back to normal that gay simulsays shit is giving me problems

##440# is part of the uninstallation process. If you dialed that and got your normal default voicemail, that's how it's supposed to be.

If you're that obnoxious in real life, I'm surprised that anyone wants to leave you a voicemail.
