I don't know if these issues are related. But around 6 AM this morning I would say 95% of the people on my desktop AIM were offline meaning that there was a network issue. About that same time I lost the ability to connect via ramble which I installed the day prior and was able to use all day. I am still currently unable to connect to the aim network via ramble but I"m holding out that the problem with be solved since I've only got 12 hours of good use out of the program.

My desktop AIM was full tilt yesterday. Only Ramble not working. I logged on via QuickBuddy, and it was fine. So I suspect its not the server, but that AOL is blocking 3rd party software.

Hey -
I have the same problem. I tried to reload the software and everything. I love Ramble. I thought it was the best thing that happened to the blackberry. Someone needs to figure this out. Help!

If AOL was blocking 3rd party though, wouldnt the Verichat be down as well? My Verichat was working beautifully yesterday.

question: are there other free strictly aim messenger programs? Also has anyone tried the t-mobile program? I know this is one that you can get for t-mo 7290.

I am surprised that Ramble hasn't posted to this thread and given us any indication of the reason for the interruption in service. The application developers were very active in this forum when releasing the software, I would hope that if they know something more than the speculation being raised here, they would share accordingly.

I sent a e-mail to SRA last night. I just got a response back a few minutes ago and i posted it below:

Hello,

We apologize for the delay in responding to your concern about Ramble IM and its inability to connect to your AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) account. We have been troubleshooting this problem and have found that AOL itself seems to be experiencing a very particular problem with the type of connection Ramble IM and other systems, like AOL's own Quick Buddy, use to log in and use AIM. The issue is not with Ramble, BlackBerry or with your wireless carrier (like Nextel, Verizon Wireless or Cingular). We have contacted AOL and submitted a troubleticket for resolution. There is no current estimated time to resolution.

Thank you for your patience and use of Ramble IM. We will inform you once the situation has been resolved.

The issue seem to only be affecting TOC-based AIM clients (Quick Buddy being the primary one).

Thank you for this update. I've tried logging on via AIM Express and it logs in fine. Does it use a different service than our apps?
